On iPhone Duo, open the phone slowly: the answer arrives letter by letter as the hinge opens, and a definition sharpens from a blur. Stop as soon as you know it. If the phone is already open, open it a little further, or pull the answer up with your thumb.
On any other iPhone, pull the answer up from the bottom of the card, as far as you need.
Right and Wrong are there at every moment. With nothing showing, Right reads “I know it”; part-way, “I know the rest”. What you saw before answering is what schedules the card, so you never grade yourself.
Without the gesture:
- VoiceOver: swipe up on the answer to hear it a letter at a time, or a definition a word at a time.
- Voice Control, or anyone who finds the gesture hard: turn on ⋯ › Settings › Show a letter button.
- A keyboard: the space bar shows a letter, R answers Right, W answers Wrong.
A new card shows its answer the first time. “Got it” brings it back as a question in a minute; “Knew it”, in ten. To test new cards straight away instead, turn off Introduce new cards in a deck’s ⋯ › Deck options.
